11:10 am Commons: Panel discussion: Arts in Corrections with returning residents and instructors
12:00 – 2:00 pm Parking Lot 8: Live Steamroller Printing
Taking the theme the Horrors and Humanities of Incarcerations returning residents and rheir teachers collaborate on a large linoleum cut printed with a steamroller. These artists first worked together in 2008 at San Quentin State Prison arts program supported by the William James Association. We also received support from Arts for Justice Fund and the Speedball company. We are grateful, for the support and the panel discussions will be about the effects of incarceration and how the arts provided humanity, community, and friendships that have extended beyond their incarceration.
Students from the Diablo Valley College Arts and Social Justice classes are invited to collaborate on linocut prints that will be also be printed on the day of the event.
Again thank you to all who supported this workshop/event and to all of you who are coming to support this event, the WJA Organization, Diablo Valley College, and the artists who have made the decision to follow their passion to create.
We Look Forward to Seeing You at the Printing, JUST ARTISTS!
