Hear about the important work of the Prison Arts Project (PAP), which bring arts education to incarcerated individuals. PAP believes participation in the artistic process significantly affects a person’s self-esteem and general outlook on the world, and that art workshops teach self-discipline, problem-solving, and concentration through absorption in a specific creative endeavor.

Members of San Quentin’s Brothers in Pen class, along with teacher Zoe Mullery, share some funny, intense, surprising and memorable short works of memoir and fiction, with time for dialogue and questions about writing in prison, the power of the creative process and what makes a story a story.
